BCISB'S ESL PROGRAM


mapleleaf British Columbia's ESL Program is built on a strong base of five English Standards, i.e. listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skill.

mapleleaf Specific learning outcomes are established for all five strands at all four ESL levels.

mapleleaf Published textbooks are used for all four levels of instruction and accompanying teacher's guide are being produced with linkage to the desired learning outcomes.

mapleleaf Tests are developed to test students' proficiency in all four levels.

mapleleaf A British Columbia ESL Teacher Training Program is currently being developed that will train teachers specifically for this ESL Program.

mapleleaf BCISB's ESL Program prepare students for British Columbia Unique high school (Grade10-12) program.

mapleleaf To maximize student achievement and successfulintegration into the BC program, The ESL Program includes a wide variety of teaching strategies/learning activities and emphasize higher level thinkikng skill.
