The Dogwood is a semi-formal name for the British Columbia Certificate of Graduation. The Dogwood education diploma is awarded to students who successfully complete the British Columbia K-12 school curriculum. This curriculum is developed and enforced by the B.C. Ministry of Education.
The Dogwood requirements have changed for those students who started Grade 10 on or after July 1, 2004.
This certificate (also known as the British Columbia Certificate of Graduation) is granted to students who meet secondary school graduation requirements by successfully completing Grade 10, 11 and 12 required courses and elective courses.
The Dogwood Diploma rate indicates the proportion of students who graduate with a Dogwood Diploma within six years of starting Grade 8 in a BC public or independent school. It includes immigrants to BC who would have been in Grade 8 in the base year, and is adjusted for out-migration from BC. Most students graduate within the first five years of the six-year period.
